Comparison between image quality in new and old N95 firmware - indoors and artificial lighting
When I posted images yesterday, comparing the image quality between Nokia N95 firmware versions 12.0.013 and 20.0.015, a mobildebat.dk forum user suggested to take some comparison images indoors at night, in poor lightning.
Photographing under these conditions is apparently tricky and it would therefore be likely to expose any differences in quality.
I have not been able to get these images before now - I tried to last night, but had a little mishap when playing Quake on the phone (tip: do not slide to landscape mode while in-game). For a while I was actually sure I had somehow fried the camera hardware. I could start the camera app just fine, but there was no image - no actual input from the camera - just blackness. Today I was fortunately able to revive the camera by doing a hard reset (*#7370#) on the phone…phew!
Ok, here goes - the first image up was taken using a tripod and an N95 running v12.0.013 firmware:
Next up is an image taken with an N95 running v20.0.015 firmware:
I am not very savy when it comes to photography, but the two images looks very similar to me. For instance in terms of sharpness. Maybe the colors are a bit better in the v20.0.015 image - there seems to be a bit of a green/grey tint on the 12.0.013 image (look at the items on the top shelf)?.
