Now with 8 GB MicroSDHC

8 GB SanDisk microSDHC shown with MobilMate Micro Reader - gersbo.dk

I have just upgraded my Nokia N95 with a 8 GB MicroSDHC memory card from SanDisk.

I have been meaning to get this card for some time, but did not get around to ordering one until now. Incidentally, I basically ordered the 8 GB card on the very same day SanDisk announced they are testing a 12 GB microSDHC card with "major phone manufacturers". The 12 GB card will probably be available in shops in a month or two.

For someone who remembers when a 20 MB hard drive was considered bleeding edge for desktop computers, it is simply incredible to have 8 GB of storage space on your mobile phone.

S60 programs do not take up much space so I will use the extra storage space to load up my N95 with additional media and entertainment files - photos and video captured using the N95, but also music, movies, TV shows, and other video clips.

The 8 GB SanDisk card came bundled with what got to be the tiniest card reader, I have ever seen - a SanDisk MobileMate Micro Reader. To illustrate the minuteness of the MobileMate reader, I have placed it next to the 8 GB microSDHC card in the above image (if you know how tiny microSD cards are). I actually feel I need to keep it on a cord to prevent it from going AWOL in a bag or drawer.

I’ve also purchased this card, and am reasonalby pleased with it. I would, however, be interested in a comparison between this card and the Mobile Ultra 8GB card line:
