Five reasons why I’ll buy the Nokia 6220 Classic when it’s available
Although I am very happy about the 6120 Classic I currently own and use, I have sort of decided to replace it with its successor, the Nokia 6220 Classic.
I really like the 6120C for its nimbleness; the HSDPA connectivity; and the fact that it has the full Symbian S60, 3rd edition OS. Compared to the N95, the 6120C is a very different device - both in terms of form factor and price point - but because the two phones run the same OS, most of the applications I know and like from the N95 work equally well with the 6120C. Also, using HSDPA on the 6120C is not really that different from using WiFi on the N95 (the price of data is, though).
What makes me so excited about the 6220 Classic is that it has all of the above…and then some. It appears that what the 6220C brings to the table are exactly the features I miss on the 6120C.
Here is a very short list of five reasons why I think the 6220C is such a desirable piece of kit:
- The 5-megapixel camera.
Why? You can only do so much with the 6120C's 2-megapixel camera. - The Xenon flash.
Why? It makes a difference… - The "2.2 screen.
Why? Bigger is better, and the "2 screen on the 6120C is on the small side. - The TV-out capability.
Why? Everyone loves TV-out. - The GPS receiver.
Why? Does not hurt and can be super useful.
Ok, so when can I have it, please?
Soonish, it appears - the 6220C was announced for release in Q3. I have tried to dig up a possible release date for Denmark, but came up empty handed. My Scandinavian cousins in Norway seem to be more in the know about these matters - via the always reliable lanseringsguide.amobil.no, I have come across some unconfirmed projections:
Both komplett.no and mpx.no expect to have 6220C units in stock by May 30th.
Nice! My only two worries concern how the 6220C will be priced and whether Nokia has come up with some kind of wonky keypad design?
