I provide the video below to illustrate the super advanced state reached by modern advertising techniques.

LG is clearly leading the way with this campaign for the KF750 "Secrets" handset.

How to get TiddlySnip extension working with Firefox 3.0

If you happen to use the TiddlySnip Firefox extension for TiddlyWiki - and have updated Firefox to the v3.0 released yesterday - you have probably noticed Firefox v3.0 disables TiddlySnip.

Although the TiddlySnip website lists the extension as compatible with Firefox 3.0, it gets disabled, seemingly because of some security policy. I got the following error message from Firefox:

"TiddlySnip will not be installed because it does not provide secure updates."

I use TiddlySnip rather a lot and luckily, I have been able to dig up a work-around that gets TiddlySnip working again.

On the TiddlySnip Google Group I found a link to a TiddlySnip beta version (beta 1.21).

I downloaded the .xpi file to my laptop and installed it from there by simply opening the file from within Firefox.

Works like a charm!

Indicator LEDs light up Nokia 6220 Classic like a Christmas Tree

Nokia 6220 Classic with scroll key indicator light.

One of the things that has struck me about the Nokia 6220 Classic is the heavy use of light indicators on the device.

The phone is basically lit like a Christmas tree, and if you are the kind of person easily annoyed by such, this thing may keep you up at night. Anyone remember the N80's blue status LED?

Please allow me to iterate through the major indicators; their respective functions; and how to switch them off (if possible).

"Destinations" on Nokia 6220 Classic had me confused for a minute

Network access points are managed using Destinations on S603rd, FP2 - gersbo.dk
Network access points are managed using "Destinations" on S603rd, FP2.

I have been having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around the way my new 6220C manages network access points. I first ran into trouble when I launched Nokia Maps v2.0 (preloaded on the device - including map and voice data for Scandinavia!), just after receiving the phone. At first start, Maps prompts you to select the default access point to use for downloading map data. At this point I had not set up the proper access points and just accepted the suggestion from Maps. Later, when I actually needed network connectivity within Maps, the default access point did not work and I could not seem to figure out how to reassign it.

Unboxing Nokia 6220 Classic

I have just received the Nokia 6220 Classic I ordered on Monday and because I enjoy watching unboxing videos myself, I immediately shot the above video.

A couple of notes about the stuff that comes with the 6220C:

  • The 6220C has a 2.5 mm DC jack which means the supplied AV cable (TV out) comes with a 2.5mm jack connector.
  • The 6220C has a micro USB port (like the N82), and not a mini USB port like the 6120 Classic, N95 etc. It appears the micro USB port is the new Nokia standard?
