New N95-1 (classic) firmware v30.0.010 coming?

There is a screenshot making its rounds in the blogosphere, supposedly revealing a new firmware revision for the original Nokia N95 - see for instance this post.

Although I do not like to cry wolf - plus the fact that it might just be a leaked internal revision, or simply fake - the time does seem right for a firmware revision to come out. The current firmware, v21.0.016, was released in March this year - the previous one, v20.0.015, was released in November 2007.

Let us see - maybe something will come out in a month or so?

I really like the current N95 firmware - its performance is rock solid, FlashLite 3.0 in the browser, Demand Paging, and the camera software are all top notch.

However, inspired by my recent 6220 Classic experience, I do have a couple of wishes for additions, I would like to see in a revised N95 firmware:

Did I forget something? Do you have other features you would like to see?

I would love to see the UDP and buildin geotagging come true on this wonderful phone. It would make my phone take on another couple of months.

As for some other feature. I would like to see the functionality of rotateme be a buildin option. I often would like to see my screen rotated while the keyboard is slided out.

Honestly, I didn’t really see any changes after the recent 6220c firmware update. And the OTA firmware didn’t even work. Thanks goodness for NSU.

Yes…UDP is great. But it’s linked to the hardware or OS somehow, so the N95 and all non-FP2 devices won’t be getting UDP anytime soon.

I correct my last statement…u learn new stuff everyday. UDP should be possible on N95.

Jarno, why would u want rotation everytime keyboard is slided? That would be counter productive.

I guess I wasn’t clear enough. While the keypad is slided out (not the mediakeys) I often would have the screen rotated. That’s what rotateme can do, but it would be great if this was a build in option.

@Kennyboy: I was just about to correct you concerning UDP, when I saw your second post. The latest N82 and 6120 Classic firmwares both feature UDP - the N82 and 6120C are both FP1 devices. I think, getting UDP on the N95 is simply a question of implementing it.

BTW: I read about the v3.23 6220C firmware and I think this is only for APAC devices, not EMEA. I checked NSU and there was no update available - before I could look into it further, Nokia withdrew the new firmware.

@Jarno: I would also like to see rotation being built into the S60 OS, but I would like there to be both auto-rotation and rotation-by-hotkey options. I think for instance the N82 auto-rotation implementation is a bit flimsy - too jittery for my liking.
